The country is in a creativity crisis. The lead article in Newsweek in July 2010 did an excellent job of pointing out what many of us have seen — since 1990 creativity scores steadily rose, just like IQ scores, but since then have continued to drop. The most significant drops have been in grades kindergarten through sixth. The article also referenced a recent IBM poll of 1,400 CEOs that identified creativity as the number one "leadership competency" of the future.
Sadly, it is our art programs in schools that have been cut by budgets. It is those same programs that have helped to produce many of our country's corporate leaders of today. We can no longer afford to idly stand by, thinking that our public school system will address this issue. The funding simply isn't there.
KidsArt Fairs events provide an art program that promotes children's artistic creative skill while building their self-esteem and confidence!
